Restlessness was recorded in June 2017 at Sharkbite studios in Oakland, CA with Zack Ohren. This album was the result of creative unrest, and a burning desire to find music again. I was very excited to have Jimmy Lehmen come in and do some lead guitar work for the album. He is "The Idle Bones" portion of this project. Below are some lyrics, check it out and sing along!

HIGHER GROUND

CHORUS:

I’m on my way, away, away

Off to higher ground

Time is just wasting away

This ship is going down, down, down

And I’ll be damned if I’m caught

Just waiting to drown, no

Pictures hanging on the wall

Of friends and family that we barely recognize at all

It seems the closer that we get

The farther we drift from the ones we love and miss

This great divide is our new disguise

And we cannot hide from this way of life

So where do we go?  From here, I don’t know

But it’s getting cold

CHORUS

We’ll never see eye to eye

Forever indifferent is this curse on mankind

Disconnected hearts and minds

Empathy’s in decline and prides on the rise

If I’ve got a chance then I’ll make a stand

And use these two hands the only way that I can

‘Cause if nobody tries to better this life

Then we’ll never shine

I’m on my way, away, away

Off to higher ground

Times wasting away

This ship is going down, down, down

And I’ll be damned if I’m caught

Just waiting to drown

I don’t believe that we’ve lost the fight

But it’s getting hard to see whose making it right

So I’ll hold my breath as I’m taking these steps

And I’ll to my best to shine through

CHORUS

SCREAMING APOLOGIES

It was raining that day

I came to scrape you off that floor

And all the echoes in my head

Said you wouldn’t do this anymore

The first few times, yeah

Those were tragedies

But now I don’t feel anything

As you’re screaming apologies

Screaming, screaming apologies, screaming

It was foolish of me

To think that I could be enough

For you to want to change your ways

To get clean and sober up

When all you want is pain

And loneliness

Self-indulgent, self-induced

I didn’t sign up for this

Screaming, screaming apologies, screaming

You don’t need me

You need a cure

Won’t be your crying shoulder no more

So this is me

Saying goodbye

I clung on to the thread of hope

That you wrapped around my throat

And now the closer that we get

The harder that I Choke

Don’t be surprised

If you no longer recognize

The person that you see when you

Look into these eyes

Screaming, screaming apologies, screaming

You don’t need me

You need a cure

Won’t be your crying shoulder no more

So this is me

Saying goodbye

To the way, the way you bring me down

To the way you always seem to drown

Blood this time isn’t strong enough

To replace a life without love

You don’t need me

You need a cure

Won’t be your crying shoulder no more

So this is me

Saying goodbye

HERO

She's all alone with that voice inside her head

Locked in her room, daydreaming in her bed

Wondering if this is how it's supposed to be

What did she do to deserve this agony?

Second best to white lines and late nights

Empty bottles and black outs and drunk fights

No that’s not the way it’s supposed to be

Always waiting for a…

Hero, Hero,

Show me a life I could never know

Hero, Hero,

When you find me please don’t go

No one should ever have to feel that kind of pain

Innocent, thinking they’re the ones to blame

All she needed was to feel good enough,

All she needed was a little bit of love

Now I’m trying to fix all that you broke

Left behind like some kind of sick joke

No that’s not the way it’s supposed to be

Always waiting for a..

Hero, Hero,

Show me a life I could never know

Hero, Hero,

When you find me please don’t go

Now you spend your days feeling sorry for yourself

Stuck in your selfish ways without regard to anyone else

Nothing you could ever to do would heal the hearts you let bleed out

If it wasn’t for you she’d never need a…

Hero, Hero,

Show me a life I could never know

Hero, Hero,

When you find me please don’t go

THE LIFE WE LIVE

Well I know you've got questions

Just the same as me

We may never find answers

But we can always be free

Unless you lock yourself away

Lost in that beautiful mind

So scared of facing the days

Well that's not me, I won't run from mine

We’ve got a ways to go

We’re meant to get there slow

It’s just the way it is

That’s just the life we live

It’s a collection of lessons

We either pass or fail

We are the sum of our decisions

And I chose to prevail

'Cause in this race against time

We can’t afford to stay down

So count those scars once more

And face the day when it comes around

We’ve got a ways to go

We’re meant to get there slow

It’s just the way it is

That’s just the life we live

So quick to fall behind

We’ll never get ahead

If we’ve given up

Before we’re dead

We’ve got a ways to go

We’re meant to get there slow

It’s just the way it is

That’s just the life we live

We’ve got a ways to go

We’re meant to get there slow

It’s just the way it is

That’s just the life we live

HOME

It takes a while to see this world for what it is

Over 30 years for me and it’s still not making sense

I peel back the layers hoping that I’ll find some good

But you can find the darkness anywhere you look

PRE CHORUS:
Careful where you step, watching what you say

No telling what comes next in such an angry place

CHORUS:

So I’m going home

To the house I built, Family I love

I always seem to get enough at home

Everyone’s blinded by their fortunes and the fame

So lost in image they’re forgetting we’re all the same

I’d rather not stand by your dog and pony show

So I’m seeking shelter in the safest place I know

PRE CHORUS

CHORUS

Don’t make me repeat all these lines

When I decide to go back outside

Let’s get better before it gets worse

Before the whole world, goes back home

THE LIFE THAT DEFINES YOU

I know how you feel

Can’t say I’ve felt it too

Like everyone’s watching you

Judging your every move

Darling let me say

That life is too short

To be living it through their eyes

Can’t stand to see it anymore

CHORUS:

Just do what you do

As long as you stay true

To that voice that gets you through

Living the life that defines you

If there’s anything I know

It’s that you’ve gotta feed your soul

I know how you feel

You’ve got a shadow on your shoulder

And you can’t do anything right

Always walking on thin ice

This moment won’t always last

Soon it’ll only be in the past

Stare into its eyes and laugh

Rise above what you can grasp

CHORUS

So stay strong, and keep calm

Hold true, just be you

THE ILLUSIONIST

I don’t walk on water like you do

Every once and a while I sink right on through

You must get tired of always stayin’ afloat

But I’m proud that I don’t

There’s not a wrinkle on your mind

Mine needs an iron time to time

You must get tired of having all the answers but,

I’m proud that I don’t

Perfection comes at a price

To those believing they’ve got it right

But I’m glad you’re on your way

And I may never know what it’s like

But hey that’s alright

I’m not sorry to say

I’m not afraid to fall and sometimes I fail

If I don’t try at all I’ll never learn to prevail

The man I am today, I fought to be

I’m proud of who I am, I’m good enough for me

I don’t give into temptation

And I’m not hungry for more

CHORUS

If you heard that it was easy, not from me

If I told you it was easy, that’s not me

I’m not afraid to fail, sometimes I fail

If I don’t try at all I’ll never learn to prevail

WITH ME

Have you noticed since you got here

It doesn’t rain like where you’re from

And if you don’t miss that life of fear

Then you don’t have to run

Your tired eyes are rested

Since you landed in these arms

And I hope that smile means you’d like to

Stay for a while

CHORUS:

Cause with me you don’t have to be anyone other than yourself

And god bless the fools that never made you feel beautiful

Now it’s on me, and I got this

It’s easy when you’re perfect

to say I wouldn’t change a thing

So I’ll tell you every day

If it makes you feel the way

You make me feel

Worth it

And I’m better for it every day

All I wanna be is everything

You could ever need

CHORUS

And now here we are, a life I could only dream

Forever grateful for all you’ve given me

And if I’m being honest all it took was a smile

I swear I’ll do all I can to make it worth your while

God bless the fools that never made you feel beautiful

Now it’s on me and I got this
